Dr. Pat Doody

Pat DoodyDr. Pat Doody is an experienced Researcher and Lecturer in the School of Science and Computing in the Institute of Technology Tralee (ITT). Pat is the Co-founder and Executive Director of the Centre for Innovation in Distributed Systems (CIDS) at ITT. Pat was also Co-Founder and Co-Leader of the Wireless and Mobility Research Group at the ITT. His research interests include AutoID technologies, wireless technologies, intelligent knowledge discovery, data mining, and application of artificial intelligence based neural network algorithms, quality of voice systems and energy initiatives. In partnership with ALTOBRIDGE Ltd. (www.altobridge .com), a network communications start-up located in the Kerry Technology Park, Pat was the principal investigator for this project to develop an integrated end-to-end RFID tag to back office architecture. Pat obtained his bachelor degree in mathematics from the University of Limerick, Ireland in 1991 and PhD in mathematics focusing on artificial intelligence and neural networks from the University Of Limerick, Ireland.

Mr. Andrew Shields

Andrew ShieldsMr. Andrew Shields is a member of the CIDS group at the Institute of Technology Tralee, Co Kerry, Ireland. He has recently completed working on a project which conducted research into the area of integrating RFID networks with public mobile platforms such as GSM /GPRS. He completed his Masters of Science degree at the Institute of Technology Tralee in 2007. He obtained his First Class Honours Bachelor degree in software development in 2002,also from the Institute of Technology Tralee. Andrew is currently undertaking a PhD. programme in ITT in the area of Artificial Intelligence with a particular focus on Reality Mining.

Mr. Jose Vicente Díez Fidalgo

Jose Vicente Díez FidalgoMr. Jose Vicente Díez Fidalgo is a member of the CIDS group since January 2011. He has completed his Technical Engineering in Computer Systems at Universitat Jaume I, Castellón de la Plana (Spain).

He is a networking and system administrator, specially GNU/Linux as well as Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Currently he is developing web applications, most of them using free software, also in Microsoft Windows platform.

CIDS will be represented at CeBIT 2011 which takes place between March 1st and March 5th in Hannover, Germany.

CIDS will be Irelands only representative taking part in Future Match which is a forum for matching Research Institutes and Companies with a view to conducting research activities and creating collaborations.

Projects

Bio-sample Tracking

CIDS  have developed in conjunction with Universal Trace Ltd. an advanced system for automated tracking and monitoring of pathology samples based on RFID. This project was supported by Enterprise Irelands Innovation Voucher Scheme.

iPhone Development

CIDS have developed and deployed advanced applications for iPhone and iPad devices in conjunction with our Industry Partner companies. CIDS are available to discuss R&D requirements that you have for mobile applications using any of the popular platforms.

System of Systems

System of Systems describes the interaction between different independent systems to achieve an overall goal that is greater than the sum of each component part. CIDS is a currently researching in the area of SoS.

Reality Mining

Currently we are researching the feasibility of combining Internet Of Things (IoT) technologies and Reality Mining techniques to provide for systems where the actions of smart objects may be monitored and predicted.
